Coyote and The Land of the Dead (Full Story)

The first story is “Coyote and the Land of the Dead.”   It was performed as an opener for a Kim Weitkamp storytelling concert in April 2013.  This story was passed onto me from my mentor Daniel Deardorff and can also be found in the book “Trickster Makes This World” by Lewis Hyde.  It shows my inclusion of the drum as an opening to help create a rhythmic trance state for listeners.  I stop drumming mid-way through.  Length of story: 16min 38Sec (full story)

Restful Comfort and the Great Flood (Partial Story)

The second story is “Restful Comfort & the Great Flood.”  It was performed in Sept 2013 at First Friday Storynight in Port Townsend, WA.  This story comes from the sacred Jewish book known as the Torah, in English as the Five Books of Moses or in Christian faith as the “Old Testament.”  I tell this story in many different situations, both predominantly Jewish and not.  I include this as an example of bringing forward a traditional story from my faith, about which many have preconceived thoughts. My goal is to present this tale in a new way to make it fresh and help it come to life in a unique form, while staying true to the story.  Length of story: 3min 38sec (partial story)
